Today I rode in the Christmas Cracker Short Track meeting at Scunthorpe. I rode a 500cc CTM short track bike. I progressed through my races and made it to the Final which consisted of 12 laps.

Overall I finished 11th out of 45 competitors. I really enjoyed it and was pleased with my performance as I had never ridden a bike like this before. I have told the organisers I would like to do this again, especially when it's at Kings Lynn next year.

It has now been confirmed that the Christmas Cracker meeting at Scunthorpe Speedway on 30th December will start at 1.00p.m.  More details of riders and admission prices can be found on Scunthorpe Speedway site.

I hope a lot of you can make it.

I want to take this opportunity to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and safe New Year in 2008.

See you on 30th December.

15.12.07
I have been invited to take part in the Christmas Cracker Meeting to be held at Scunthorpe on Sunday 30th December.  This time has yet to be confirmed.  This meeting is organised by one of my friends, Peter Boast,  who got me into speedway riding.

This meeting is flat track racing with 12 riders in a race and run over 6 laps.  This is obviously a new kind of racing to me but I am going to give it a go as there are several speedway riders taking part.

When the time has been confirmed I will post it on here.  If you are getting 'speedway withdrawal symptoms and got nothing else to do please come along and support the meeting for Peter.   It would be good to see you there.

Simon has secured a full time position at Kings Lynn in the Premier League for 2008 season.  He is now seeking sponsorship to get new equipment ready for the forthcoming  season.

If anyone is interested in sponsoring Simon please contact him via this site.

Boston Speedway held their Presentation Evening on Friday night and I was pleased to be voted joint 'Rider of the Year' with my team mate Matt Wright. This was voted for by the fans and I was very pleased to accept the award.

I was also presented with the 'Croft Marsh Flyer' Trophy from local 'legend' Jack Bell.  I received this trophy for scoring the most points in the Boston team during the 2007 season.

Dale Allitt announced at the Presentation Evening that I have agreed to ride for Boston Speedway in 2008.  Regarding the Premier League next year I
have agreed to sign for a Premier League team for the whole of 2008 season and this will be announced soon.

Keep watching my website and don't forget to sign my guestbook.

9.11.07
Just to round off my 2007 season I have a few  thank you's to make to the people who have made my year so successful.

During the 2007 season I have had 77 meetings in total  - this includes Individual, Conference, Premier and an Elite League debut with Belle Vue. In all I have rattled up 630 points from the above meetings and ridden for 11 different clubs in the Premier League.

None of this would be possible without the support of promoters, sponsors, mechanics and of course family.

Firstly I would like to say a huge thank you to Tony Louth and Wayne Dunworth who look after my bikes and keep them in tip top condition.  They spend many hours on my engines and I have learnt such a lot from them.  I am so grateful for their work  behind the scenes and also for helping in the pits on race days.

Secondly I have to say thank you to all of  my sponsors.  The list is too big to go through individually but if you are reading this then you know who you are.  I don't think it is ever possible to be successful in this very expensive sport if you don't  have sponsorship.  I have been sponsored in various degrees - some people have sponsored me  £1 per point, tyres, methanol, oil etc. and believe me every little helps!

I thank the Promoters from the different teams I have ridden for this year.  They have given me the opportunity to ride different tracks, increase my confidence and more importantly try to earn some money.

Finally I must thank my family.  Mum and dad for 'investing' in me - as they say - and not forgetting Steph who tries to 'keep me on the straight and narrow!!!!' My family are behind me 100% and for that I am grateful.

As I have said previously thanks to Dave Hood for doing a brilliant job with my website. He keeps the information and results bang up to date on here.  Its going to change format for next year so keep looking out for that.

When I have any team news for next year I will post it on here - so keep watching!!!

Bye for now.

30.10.07
To round off a great season I scored 8+1 tonight riding at the no. 2 position for Sheffield  away at Scunthorpe.

I have had a brilliant 2007 and I dont know where I will be riding next year but watch this site and as soon as I know it will be updated.

Not its time to get the bikes all clean and sparkling and find some sun, sea and beach.

28.10.07
Another thrilling meeting today. I  rode for Redcar in the second leg of the Young Shield Final at Birmingham.

Redcar won the Trophy on aggregate so there was lots of celebrations at the end.  I rode at no. 4 today which was much harder than my usual reserve berth and scored 4 points.  It was great to have a win in my second ride when I beat Jason Lyons, James Grieves and Shaun Tacey.

I have had a brilliant week riding in two winning finals.  My 2007 season finishes on Tuesday when I ride for Sheffield at Scunthorpe in a Challenge match.

26.10.07
I was very pleased and proud to take part in my first Elite League meeting tonight when I rode for Belle Vue against Peterborough at Kings Lynn. Mr. Gordon Pairman rang me and asked me to be no. 7 for Belle Vue and make my Elite League debut.

In my first ride I followed  my partner James Wright past the tapes for a paid win. I then ran 3 last places but finished off in style with a paid win partnering Simon Stead in my fifth race of the evening.

Overall I was very pleased with my performance tonight and I hope I get many more opportunities next year.

24.10.07
What a fantastic time I have had tonight riding for Kings Lynn in the KO Cup Final - and being with a winning team. Kings Lynn beat Somerset 59 - 34.

I scored 11+1 and was very pleased to get double figures - it helps the bank balance.  It is a perfect way to round off the 2007 season with a winners medal  and hopefully I can obtain a full time Premier League team place somewhere for the 2008 season.

22.10.07
I have now completed all my fixtures with the Boston Barracudas.  I would like to thank the management, sponsors, fans and everyone connected with the Club for a great season.

I personally have had a great season this year, my best so far, both in the Conference League riding for Boston and in the Premier League making guest appearances for various clubs and now riding for the kings Lynn Stars.  All the extra rides have helped me to progress and hopefully help my career.

I would like to thank all of my sponsors for their help during the year.  They have really been fantastic and the sponsorship I receive from them all is really appreciated. Believe me without sponsorship it would be almost impossible to compete competitively in speedway.

The sponsorship list is quite long but the full list can be found on my website here

Also thanks to Dave Hood who does a marvellous job looking after my website and keeps it bang up to date.  Many thanks Dave.

I am really looking forward to Wednesday night when I am riding in the Cup Final at Kings Lynn v Somerset.  So lets hope a lot of you fans will come along and make plenty of noise.

23.9.07
I am absolutely gutted today.  I rode in the David Nix Memorial Meeting at Scunthorpe. I was doing so well and  I missed an automatic place in the final by one point scoring 11 out of 12.

So I had a second chance of making the final by going in the semi final. I made a good start out of the gate and was leading the race way out in front when I shed a chain. The chance of making the final disappeared and my finishing position was then 6th place.  My thanks to Pat Nix and Wendy Peckham for organising such an excellent  day and hope that they made plenty of money for the Gary Stead Appeal.

17.9.07
A better night tonight at the Under 18s British Final at Wolverhampton.

I got rid of the 5 oranges!!  I fell in my third ride and Johnson fell onto me twisting my bike and my knee. My knee is swollen but ok.  I enjoyed riding in the meeting and many congratulations to Tai on a superb winning result tonight. He deserved it!

15.9.07
What an awful night I had at Rye House in the CLRC. I had bike trouble in my first race and after that just couldn't seem to get the set up right.

I struggled with my gating and nothing went right all evening. I apologise to the Boston fans that made the journey to support me and now have to put this behind me and move on. It was just one of those awful nights that I cant change now.

7.9.07
What a brilliant night tonight. Not only did Boston beat Rye House and Buxton but I also scored 2 paid maximums in the double header meeting. In the first meeting against Rye House I scored 14 + 1 from 5 rides and the Boston Barracudas had an easy win. Our second meeting against Buxton was harder and I scored 11+1 from 4 rides. My two rides against Jon Armstrong during the meeting were quite breathtaking both for me and for the crowd. I knew he was buzzing round the back of me the whole time trying to get past but I managed to fend him off long enough to win the 3 points in each race.

The Boston boys worked hard tonight and every rider gave 100%.  Lets hope we can keep the momentum going for Sittingbourne on Sunday.

1.9.07
Simon is on the road to making a good recovery after his bad accident at Kings Lynn last week. He had ruled himself out for riding at Oxford last night but when James Brundle became unavailable on Thursday this all changed. Simon stepped in to help his beloved team and rode in Brundles' place at No. 1.

He is still a bit stiff and working on his fitness by swimming and  physiotherapy. Hopefully he will  soon  back to full fitness as he
will next be riding on Friday night for Boston at home in a double header with Rye House & Buxton.

24.8.07
Simon had a very nasty fall in heat 12 at Kings Lynn tonight whilst riding for the Isle of Wight. He was having a good meeting and then in heat 12 he was first out the gate, picked up drive and then Nermark clipped his back wheel and Simon went straight into the fence back first. He was down on the track for about 20 minutes and was taken to hospital on a spinal board and in a neck brace  by the County Ambulance. After a thorough examination he has skin burns to both elbows, severe tissue damage and burns to his lower back and bottom. He is very stiff and sore. The bike is completely written off, his kevlars and under suit were cut from him.

A very kind sponsor has stepped in agreed to buy him a new race suit and Simon has to report back to the hospital in 5 days. He is absolutely gutted as he was going to be Live on Sky Sports on Monday evening riding for the Isle of Wight at Rye House.

17.8.07
What a great result tonight to put a win over local derby rivals Scunthorpe.  The team rode well.

I had a nasty fall in heat 7 as Josh Auty fell and I had to lay my bike down; I went into the fence and bruised my ribs but I carried on for the rest of the meeting. My ribs and stomach are very sore at the moment but I have a busy weekend with Boston riding at Rye House tomorrow night and on to Sittingbourne on Sunday. Hopefully I will be ok to ride.

5.8.07
I am disappointed with the result from Scunthorpe, particularly my own score.  Whilst warming my no. 1 bike before the meeting we discovered a problem with the clutch and I had to ride my second bike for my first two rides. I got two thirds.

By this time my best bike had been put right and after I changed bikes I went a lot better in my last three rides.  I was all set to go with the black and white helmet ride in heat 14 when the meeting was abandoned.  Paul Cooper battled with Tai Woffinden and came off and went through the fence in heat 13.  Somehow this caused a fault in the electrical power and the meeting was abandoned.

So I missed out on 2 more rides.  Anyway my next Conference Meeting is at Stoke v Boston on Wednesday so get yourself along and give the Barracudas some noise.

22.7.07
What a great day. I was so pleased to win the Conference League Best Pairs with Paul Cooper today at Scunthorpe.

Paul and I were very consistent throughout the meeting and didn't run any last places.  I am pleased to win the silverware for the Boston Barracudas Club and today was the best to finish on the top of the podium in first place.

We held off favourites Scunthorpe who finished 3rd and Paul and I were in the final against Lee Smethills and Jordan Frampton of Oxford.

All round it was an excellent day, well hosted and organised by Scunthorpe, the weather was kind to us and Paul and myself came away with the silverware as Conference League Pairs winners.

12.7.07
I had a really brilliant time tonight in the Young Top Guns Individual Meeting at Sheffield. It was a very tough line up and my aim was to get to the semi final.

I had four wins and a second in my five qualifying heats and this got me through to the semi final.  I won the semi final heat to get through to the final on the night.

Unfortunately I was pipped for first place by my good mate and ex Boston rider Adam Roynon who rode an excellent race. I was very pleased with my second place tonight and James Cockle was third.

3.7.07
As some of you have read on the forum the arm I broke at Stoke last year is still giving me discomfort and pain. I went to the hospital for x-rays yesterday and returned again this morning to see the consultant. This is why I did not ride at Glasgow for the Stars.

Having seen the consultant this morning I am assured that everything is going on ok and the pain is due to the muscle and bone growth around the steel rod and screws area in the top of my arm. I have to have another course of physiotherapy now to help build back the muscle in my right arm. I am thankful it is nothing more and I can carry on racing.

1.7.07
Much better result tonight.  Good team performance from the Boston riders. I made 5 really good starts out the gate and am happy with my score. I made changes to the bike after my first ride and the bike felt quick.

29.6.07
A very disappointing night not just for me but for the whole of the Boston team. Everyone tried hard and I lost a chain whilst leading in my third race. Lets hope we can turn it round when Weymouth visit us at the Norfolk Arena on Sunday evening. It was just one of those nights tonight where nothing went right. I have got a very busy schedule coming up in July with about 15 meetings at the moment. So it has to be all systems go from now!

13.6.07
And yet another rain off for Boston at Stoke today.  After Fridays double header was called off I was really looking forward to riding tonight.  It seems ages since we had a meeting. I am riding in the Young Guns Individual at Sheffield tomorrow night (Thursday) so am praying that the weather doesn't let us down. Then of course we are at Cleveland on Saturday.

Pleased to say my injured fingers are now ok and don't give me any problems.

The only problem is the British weather!!!!!!!

4.6.07
After visiting A & E last night and having an x-ray the good news is that I have not broken my fingers.  My third  finger is badly bruised and swollen and this is due to the build up of fluid around the knuckle.  Hopefully all will be well in a day or two.

3.6.07
Simon had a very frustrating and expensive time  at Scunthorpe today. He fell heavily in his first race and bent the bike frame, he knocked his left hand rather badly when he fell and had his fingers strapped up by the paramedics. He was in a lot of pain but insisted on carrying on with his programmed rides. He won his second race and managed to score two points in his third outing but his engine blew up big time.

He has now gone off to hospital for an x ray on his hand with suspected 2 broken fingers. Will update the news tomorrow.

25.5.07
I had a really good meeting and enjoyed tonight.  The racing was very competitive with lots of overtaking.  Plymouth were 14 points down at heat 8 and did well to pull the score back to just 6 points.  Credit due to both teams tonight, all riders pulled out the stops.  I was pleased to score 11+1.

22.5.07
I have been to Kings Lynn for practice to run in my engines which have just been rebuilt.  I am now looking forward to a few good meetings.  I have Kings Lynn tomorrow night and a Boston meeting on Friday.

5.5.07
I had a brilliant day at Cleveland today scoring 13 points.  I really liked the track and my bikes went well.

The match went down to the last heat decider.  Luckily I won heat 15 and Jon came in third giving us a 4 - 2 to win the match.

25.4.07
I had a good win in heat 2 tonight when I rode for Kings Lynn against Newcastle.  My aim was to score at least one point in every race and this I achieved.  Scoring 6 points tonight keeps my confidence going and it can only get better and better.

21.4.07
Simon scored 11+1 in Boston's 56-36 win over Buxton in the Conference Trophy last night. Of the performance Simon said:
"I had a really good meeting tonight.  I had 3 straight wins and was going for a maximum in heat 14.  I was first off the tapes going into the first bend when my steel shoe caught the spokes in my wheel and fetched me off.  I twisted my ankle and bruised my hand but luckily no other injuries.  I followed Jon Armstrong in a maximum in Heat 15".

16.4.07
Simon's leg is still a bit sore after his crash yesterday in the British U21 Qualifier but he has declared himself fit and has had the call up from Kings Lynn to ride on Wednesday night at Kings Lynn against Workington in the Premier League Trophy match.

15.4.07
Simon has had a bad day at Scunthorpe in the British Under 21 Qualifying round.  He seemed under powered and was very disappointed with his score.  To round it all off he had a crash in heat 20 with James Cockle and Tai Woffenden and he has hurt his right leg.  He couldn't take part in the re-run.

He scored 5 points (2 1 0 2 F).

14.4.07
Simon had a very disappointing and expensive evening last night in Boston's 55-37 victory over Stoke. In his first race of the night the clutch mushroom snapped but he managed to get second place behind Barrie Evans. In his third outing his brand new bike would not fire for its first outing (even though it had not been a problem before when running in/warming) so Jon Armstrong kindly stepped in and lent him his bike.  Jon's bike was not exactly built for Simons long legs but Simon came in second behind team partner Darren Mallett.

His final race in heat 14 was big time. The con rod snapped and finished off his engine in lap 4.  As Kriss Irving had fallen, Simon had to push the bike over the line for the last half lap to score one point.

Tomorrow (Sunday) is the British Under 21 Qualifying meeting at Scunthorpe and Simon likes the Scunthorpe track and is hoping to have a good meeting.

11.4.07
Simon rode at Kings Lynn tonight for Kings Lynn and not for Stoke.  Kings Lynn agreed he could ride for Stoke although they then recalled him to ride in place of the injured James Brundle.

John Oliver was injured in a crash in heat 2 so Simon took his rides and had seven rides riding as reserve.

Simons scored 6+1 (2 1 0 0 2* 0 1).

7.4.07
Simon received a late phone call on Friday night to ride for Stoke in place of the injured Jack Hargreaves against Workington.  He had to think long and hard about this as this is where he suffered his serious arm injury last year.

He accepted the offer and is pleased to have been back to the track and got the meeting out of the way.  He struggled in his first two rides but was on the pace in his third ride. He scored 1 point (0 0 1) as Stoke lost 35-55.

6.4.07
Hi there

It feels good to get the first 'home' match of the season out of the way. It was a strong match tonight against our old rivals the Scunthorpe Scorpions. I was pleased with my overall performance but feel I should have picked up some points in heat 15. Thanks to all the people who came to support me tonight - it was nice to see some new faces and sponsors.

1.4.07
Simon today rode in the Wayne Carter Farewell Meeting at Scunthorpe. He lined up with many top Conference and Premier League riders. He scored 10 points (3 1 3 0 3 ) and was joint top scorer with Gary Stead.  He was beaten by Stead in the run-off.

Simon said "I have had a brilliant day today and am feeling good with my form. I was very pleased to be on the podium in second place."

25.3.07
Simon had an excellent start to the new 2007 season scoring 15 + 1 at Scunthorpe today.

He his very happy and he said his bikes felt good.  He made a bad start in heat 3 as the track was really wet and he couldn't see very well behind the leader.  The track improved from there on and his performance picked up for his following rides.  He won heat 11 going from 15 metres back and this was one of the fastest times of the day.  Its good news also that his  right arm did not give him any pain and stood the meeting well.

He is back at Scunthorpe next Sunday in the Wayne Carter Testimonial meeting.

11.3.07
Hi there

The season is really getting close now and I am looking forward to my first match. I have had a couple of practices at Kings Lynn and I have another one this  Wednesday.

My first meeting will be a Premier League meeting as I have been asked to ride at No. 7 in the Ashley Jones Select Team at Kings Lynn on Friday 16th March.  The competition will be very tough against a full team from Kings Lynn but I am really looking forward to getting back racing.  Hope to see some of you there to cheer the lads on.

1.3.07
Hi there
I went for a practice to Scunthorpe a couple of weeks ago and it felt good to get back on the bike again. The bike went well and I felt pretty good.  My arm was a little sore at the end of the day but I am working on my fitness to build the muscle up again.

Thanks to all those who helped me celebrate my 18th birthday last weekend.   I certainly had a good time on Saturday and it was great to see so many friends at the party.

12.2.07
Hi again
I have collected a new Jawa bike this week.  I now have 3 speedway bikes and 4 engines and I am raring to go.  I need to have a practice soon when the weather is a bit better.  I will be going to Scunthorpe or Kings Lynn for a skid as soon as I can.

24.1.07
Hi to everyone,

I am really looking forward of the 2007 Speedway season which starts in March. I am again riding for the Boston Barracudas in the Conference League and I am Captain of the Kings Lynn Academy Team.

I am looking forward to getting some practice laps in starting this weekend and get a feel for my bike again. As you know I broke the top of my right arm in May last year which ruled me out for most of the 2006 season. I am now really working on my fitness to get back to full strength. I do press ups on my knuckles each day and I am now introducing weights into my fitness training programme to build up the muscles in my arm.

My aim this year is to complete a full season and remain injury free!

10.1.07
Welcome to my new website, Simon Lambert Racing. I hope you enjoy the new site which I will keep updated with my progress throughout the season, please let me know you've been by signing the guestbook.

I am really looking forward to the new season with the Boston Barracudas and can't wait to see you all there. That's all for now.
